Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a legal holiday in the United States commemorating those who have died in our nation’s service. Although originally celebrated on May 30th, it is now celebrated on the last Monday of May (passed by Congress with the National Holiday Act of 1971 to ensure a three day weekend for Federal holidays). Some feel that changing the date merely to create three-day weekends has undermined the very meaning of the day, as many view Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer.
The May 2010 Mega Kit – Americana Memories, found at Digital Scrapbooking Studio, would be perfect for your tribute pages (a special soldier or memory). Done in Americana style, the kit is perfect for genealogy & heritage pages as well. In honor of Memorial Day they also have a “special 10 for $10” for your heritage, vintage, memory layouts.
DH will be fishing today (Saturday) and DD will be boating with her family — I think I’ll spend the morning sorting though digital photos and kits to begin some new scrapbook layouts. Digital Scrapbooking is a delightful way to spend my time — I love revisiting memories. Have a nice weekend and shed some thought to the fallen heroes who have sacrificed for our freedoms.
This is going to be a short post. My head is spinning with all of the craziness that happened over the last three days. In the span of three days, we’ve had one dentist appointment, one dance class, one soccer practice, one car appoinment, one majorly awesome Pre-K graduation, and an open house for a 1st grader. Whew. Oh yes, and I was working every day too. I’m ready to fall asleep at the computer as I write this! The good news is that for graduation and open house, I took a lot of pictures to scrap. Thank heavens for my trusty Iphone because I ended up using that at the open house since the camera got left in the car. (I didn’t want to run back for it because it’s been threatening thunderstorms all night and I didn’t feel like getting soaked – again.)
Of course with the graduation and 1st grade open house on my mind, I went looking for things to do with school. I know that there are some cool graduation kits out there; I have some on my wish list. I chose to focus on this template pack from Cathy Zielske titled “It’s Elementary” and it is available at www.designerdigitals.com.
This is an awesome way to document the elemenary school experience. I’m a huge fan of templates and I like Cathy’s linear style. This would be a great way to get those years documented, or to be able to document them as time goes by.
This is short and sweet this week – so until next Friday, What Stories Are You Going to Tell?
Good Morning Everyone,
This is such a great morning – the birds are singing and the sun is shining. My ash trees are staring to leaf out, which is great but those trees have caused me a great deal of worry. There’s a little critter that’s been decimating ash trees throughout the midwest the past few years. It’s called the emerald ash borer and they’re heading this way 🙁 Dear hubby and I have planted our trees as babies 17 years ago when we built our home and now these trees are almost full grown. We’re hoping against hope that the borer doesn’t make it this far north.
For the Layout of the Day I’ve chosen this incredibly cute layout by Hazel82 at DST. This baby is just too cute for words.
And for the Product of the Day, I’ve chosen the great kit “Blue Danube” by Gem Designs at DigitalScrapn. She hand draws her own elements – wow. Love it 🙂
Have a great week –
Look at this page! I fell in love with the water and her shadows…oh my gosh…I asked you to go look at her gallery and see nothing but perfection!! Her user name is she_. , and SHE is awesome!!!
I am loving seeing fresh pages from different parts of the world…isn’t the digital world amazing? Crossing boundries and bodies of water thru the magic of the internet!!! That I can sit in California and see a scrapper’s page from Poland, Russia, or even a country in South America is beyond amazing.
I also need ya’lls help….we are trying to see how many chatter’s can fit in Netta’s Chatroom– May 27th 6pm PST-she just installed it and we are doing a test run!
Enjoy your week

A myth I’d spent years dreaming about is the extra time I’d have in retirement! When did I find time to work? Granted, I’m still working one day a week, in addition to keeping my granddaughter (nearly 5) a day or two a week, but there just aren’t enough hours left for all of the projects I want to complete!
This week I enjoyed my granddaughter’s preschool program. I’ve also been recording the videos taken of her (birth ‘til present) onto DVDs and enjoying the peek into special moments. I hope to capture some still shots from the videos to create layouts with. Thinking about capturing movement into scrapbooking, I found this layout — perfect! It captures action, a story is told in the journaling, and what a great “Daddy-Son” photo.
So, have you taken a tour of the MyPicTales Design Center? You should! In addition to the premium graphics and kits offered, there are many free backgrounds for you to use with your scrapbook pages. Together with the MyPicTales Taleweaver software, the backgrounds complement your photos in photobooks, cards, and calendars. Enjoy!
